College is a brand new experience for young people and new freshmen have a lot of learn when they start their university adventure. Here are 11 secrets that your fellow college students may not tell you when you first get there, but they will certainly help you to survive better the next four years:
11. Don’t rush into buying books for your classes
College books sometimes cost hundreds of dollars and then the professor may not even use it to teach out of! Other times they use the book all the time and you better have it if you want to pass the exams. The answer is that you should wait until you have gone to class a couple times and figure out the professor’s style of teaching. Then, even if you need the book, try to find a used copy or perhaps go in with one of your classmates and share the book. This way you can save money your first year and thereafter too.
10. Don’t be afraid to make some new friends at college
If you are normally a rather shy person, you may find it hard to make new friends when you get to college. But you can’t stay in the dorms forever and you never know when you could be introducing yourself to your next BFF. When you are in college you should try to make an effort to do things like join a club, hang out with your classmates, and do other things where you will get a chance to meet new people and make some new friends.
