10 Super Tips for Getting a Job After College

8. Show off your skills in innovative ways

One idea to show off your skills is to do something like make a YouTube video of yourself and use it as a sort of video resume. Depending on the type of job you want, you can show yourself doing related activities, talk about yourself, perhaps get references to talk about your skills, abilities, work ethics and more. Showcasing your skills in this fashion can get your face (literally) out there for the employers to see.

9. Google Yourself

This may seem like you are conceited, but there is a good reason to want to find out what sort of digital footprint you have before you go about applying for work. For instance, many young people have discovered that due to the wild and crazy things they did during their college years that got posted on Facebook that some employers want nothing to do with them. You want to know ahead of time what potential employers may see about you online. Just like a company, your name is an important asset and you want the information out there to reflect well on your skills, abilities, and all your good traits, not the fact that you won a beer drinking contest or some other crazy college stunt you may now regret.
